If they_x000D_<br \/>\nare too fat, then they need more exercise, not less food. <br \/>_x000D_\n<\/p>\n<p>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p><b>Greenfood<\/p>\n<p><\/b>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p>In addition to this, zebra finches like many greens, such as dandelion leaves, lettuce,_x000D_<br \/>\nchickweed, apples, etc. Make sure you get any greens from a non polluted area. For_x000D_<br \/>\ninstance picking dandelion leaves from the roadside is not a good idea&#8230;<br \/>_x000D_\n<\/p>\n<p>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p><b>Calcium<\/p>\n<p><\/b>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p>In general birds should always have access to some form of calcium. Usually cuttlefish_x000D_<br \/>\nbone and\/or sea shells are very popular, but so are egg shells from regular chickens. If_x000D_<br \/>\nyou do use egg shells I would suggest microwaving the shells for a few minutes (or heating_x000D_<br \/>\nthem in a regular oven if you don&#8217;t have a microwave) in order to kill any bacteria_x000D_<br \/>\n(Salmonella). Let the shells cool off before feeding them to the birds. <br \/>_x000D_\n<\/p>\n<p>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p><b>Water<\/p>\n<p><\/b>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p>Normally, zebra finches should always have access to fresh water. <br \/>_x000D_\n<\/p>\n<p>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p><b>Rearing food (nestling food)<\/p>\n<p><\/b>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p>You should be able to find a rearing food (or_x000D_<br \/>\nnestling food) at your local petshop which should be suitable. If not, you can always try_x000D_<br \/>\nsoaking some dry (not stale) bread in water. Squize the water out of it, so that it is_x000D_<br \/>\nmoist, but not really wet, and give this to the birds every day.
