For short periods smaller cages can be used, but the general rule is: <i>the bigger,_x000D_<br \/>\nthe better<\/i>. <\/p>\n<p>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p><b>Shape <\/b><\/p>\n<p>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p>Generally, cages should be rectangular to allow for maximum flight space. Round cages_x000D_<br \/>\nprovide for less space in which to fly, and are therefore not recommended. (round aviaries_x000D_<br \/>\nis a different matter). Cages with little towers etc, may look very decorative, but can be_x000D_<br \/>\ndeath traps for birds, so keep it simple. <\/p>\n<p>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p><b>Security <\/p>\n<p><\/b>_x000D_<br \/>\n_x000D_<\/p>\n<p>Make sure the doors of the cage all close tightly so that the birds don&#8217;t escape. If_x000D_<br \/>\nthere are children or any cats\/dogs around, make sure the cage is well protected from_x000D_<br \/>\nthese, i.e. difficult to open.
